Boys Junior Varsity Basketball, Boys Varsity Basketball · HS Boys Basketball: Patriots celebrate team manager, Zana Omar

Tuesday, February 11, 2020, was a night to remember for senior basketball team manager, Zana Omar.  Omar, who has been team manager since his 8th grade year, has been a staple on the bench for the Heritage boys’ basketball team. Last week, Coach Miller decided to dress Zana for the Senior Night game against Harpeth. “It was something I wanted; the team wanted, and the school wanted,” Coach Miller said of Omar playing on Senior Night. “Having a young man with such commitment, school spirit, and determination is hard to find. He deserved this.  He earned this opportunity,” Miller said of Omar.  “He will be missed.” The response from the students was overwhelming.  After the win, the students gathered at midcourt shouting “Zana” and “I believe that we just won!”

When asked about the game, Omar said, ” It was a great experience; I went out and tried to do what I need to do for my team.”  Those words describe Zana’s character and commitment to his team and school. Whether it is on the gridiron cheering on the football team, on the bench with basketball, or in the halls of Heritage High, Zana exemplifies what is means to be a Patriot. We applaud your leadership and wish you success! #PFL
