WH Heritage falls to Sycamore but defeats Cheatham County Central
Submitted by Nicole Taylor
eam regionals were held at White House Heritage High School on Tuesday, Jan. 26.
It was a rough start for the Patriots. The two-year program was seeded fourth coming into regionals on Tuesday. That put them wrestling against the No. 1 seed, Sycamore, in the first round. The Patriots did not see a win. A. Taylor and L. Taylor both came close, but were not able to pull it off. Sycamore went on to beat Greenbrier for the team region 7 championship title.
Heritage did pull off a win against Cheatham County Central. A. Taylor (113) started the night with a loss. However, B. Parnell (120) and L. Abernathy (126) followed him with each scoring a pin for the team. N. Slough (138) received a forfeit, and N. Taylor (145) followed him with a surprising pin. Taylor was down in points and came back with a pin in the third period. L. Taylor (152) followed his younger brother with a major decision beating his opponent 15-3. The most exciting win would follow. R. Odell (160) brought the house down with the first pin of his wrestling career. You can watch it on PFLsports.net. Captain K. Watts (170) won 7-3 going all three periods with his Cheatham counterpart. M. Park (285) gave the Patriots the final points with a forfeit. The Patriots came away with a 43-24 win against Cheatham Co. leaving them in third place in the region for team duals. Not a bad finish for their second year as a program.
